From March 24th to April 21st, the CEC hosts the bidisciplinary exhibition “La utilitat de l’inútil”, between poetry and watercolour. A lecture by Biel Mesquida from the paintings by Ewa Karpińska, representing its echoes and showing art’s possible evolution lines.

Halfway between experimental documentary and speculative fiction, the film narrates experiences not from its documented remains but from what is missing from them. Without separating the then and now, the living and the dead, nor the awakening and the unconscious, it creates the potential history of a physician who in critical times in the 20th century politicised psychiatry by turning around our relation with mental illness and the normal man. It opens a self-critical space in Catalonia around its failure to remember.

Catalan cinema contains numerous traces of radicalism or avant-garde. The pioneer Segundo de Chomón and the painter Salvador Dalí marked a trend later followed by the Barcelona School, the militant and underground cinema of the seventies or, more recently, Albert Serra.

On Thursday, March 30th the registration period for the Catalan language certificates exams by Institut Ramon Llull is opening its first call for the year 2022, open until April 19th. The IRL language certificates accredit degrees of knowledge of Catalan language both for academic and work purposes (public administration, business, institutions), and are structured within five levels according to the Common European Framework for Languages.
