Prof. Sinner will be teaching the course Castellano y catalán en Cataluña: cuestiones normativas, estatus y actitudes lingüísticas for students enrolled in the Ph.D. Program in Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures (LAILAC) at The Graduate Center - CUNY, invited by The Mercè Rodoreda Chair for Catalan Language and Literature. The Rodoreda Chair, created in 2003 and funded by Institut Ramon Llull, each semester offers a course in Catalan literature and culture, or a course in Catalan sociolinguistics, alternatively.

Mallorca born, New York based artist Domingo Zapata, suspended in a harness high above Times Square, created the largest vinyl mural in New York City. The 30,000 square foot mural is wrapped around One Times Square and documents Zapata’s journey from Spain to New York City.

The Cercle culturel catalan and the Médiathèque en études catalanes de l’Université de Montréal present “Roger Mas in concert”, the show by author-composer Roger Mas at Salle Claude-Léveillé in Place des Arts on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 of September, 2019, at 8:00pm, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Jordi Bonet's death, as well as Catalonia's National Day. After Montreal, the Quebec tour of Roger Mas continues in the City of Quebec, on Sunday 15 of September at 11:00am, with a concert in front of the mural by Jordi Bonet in the Grand Théàtre of Québec.

On September 11, The National Day of Catalonia, Catalan Institute of America (CIofA) will launch a film series for its members. Screenings will take place regularly. A week later, the CIofA Book Club in Catalan, also free for members and coordinated by translator Mary Ann Newman, will start meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. Both series will be held at the Center for Social Innovation in Chelsea, NYC.
