Agustí Fernández is one of the most avant-garde and international musicians in Catalonia, and is renowned throughout the world for his improvised music. With a well-established professional career and a deserved international reputation, Fernández has worked alongside all the great figures of improvised music, such as Peter Kowald, Derek Bailey, Evan Parker and Barry Guy, among many others. In 2009 he was awarded the City of Barcelona Prize for Music. His 2008 solo Mutza piano concert in New York was particularly acclaimed by the New York press.
