The new edition of 'Camera Catalonia' by the Cambridge Film Festival features five films from Catalonia

A new window opens onto Catalan cinema at the Cambridge Film Festival held from 24 to 31 October, which includes some of its most outstanding recent titles. The films that will be screened this year are Casa en flames House on fire), El mestre que va prometre el mar (The teacher who promised the sea), Llobàs, Tu no ets jo (You are not me) and The human hibernation.




This non-competitive festival is centred on showcasing international independent cinema and has grown to be a valuable platform for highlighting Catalan film initiatives in the United Kingdom. For the past few years, the Cambridge Film Festival has been featuring a section dedicated to Catalan cinema called “Camera Catalonia”, which showcases a selection of the year’s productions. This section has been supported by the IRL since 2012.

The scheduled productions are as follows:

  • House on fire, directed by Dani de la Orden. October 26 at 6.40 pm and October 29 at 1.15 pm
  • El mestre que va prometre el mar, directed by Patricia Font. October 27 at 6.35pm and October 20 at 3.55 pm.
  • Llobàs, directed by Pau Calpe. October 27 at 4.30 pm and October 30 at 2.50pm.
  • Tu no ets jo, directed by Marisa Crespo and Moisés Romera. October 25 at 10.10pm and October 28 at 3.35 pm.
  • The human hibernation, directed by Anna Cornudella. October 30 at 6 pm and October 31 at 1.20 pm.

All movies will be presented at the Arts Picturehouse theatre in Cambridge, in the original language with English subtitles.

Alongside the screenings, various complementary activities are scheduled. Marisa Crespo and Moisés Romera, co-directors of "Tu no ests jo", will participate in a round table on Friday 25 October.

Anna Cornudella, director of "The Human Hibernation", will attend the event on Wednesday, October 30.

Paul Preston, a British historian and a renowned expert on the Spanish Civil War, is scheduled to participate in a colloquium after the screening of “El Mestre que va prometre el mar” on Sunday, October 27th.
