Llull takes Catalan cinema to Morocco and the United States in a new edition of the International Gaudí Cycle

The international edition of the Gaudí Cycle is becoming firmly established and continues to expand, reaching Washington and Rabat in 2025.https://academiadelcinema.cat/ca/




The Gaudí Film Cycle remains committed to promoting Catalan productions on the international stage. Since its launch in 2023, several cities have joined the programme featuring Catalan films. This year, Washington and Rabat become part of the international screening circuit.

In collaboration with the IRL and the Catalan Film Academy, six films, carefully selected by panel of experts, will be screened in six cities around the world – Berlin, Santiago de Chile, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Washington, and Raba t– throughout 2025.

The titles featuring in the 2025 edition of the International Gaudí Cycle are:

  • Mamífera, Liliana Torres (2024).
  • Robot Dreams, Pablo Berger (2023).
  • Alcarràs, Carla Simón (2022).
  • El mestre que va prometre el mar, Patrícia Font (2023).
  • Segundo Premio, Isaki Lacuesta i Pol Rodríguez (2024).
  • La Voluntària, Nely Reguera (2021).

This season the Cinema Renaissance in Rabat the E Street Landmark in Washington join the Cine Tonalá (Mexico City), the Cine Mayahuel in Guadalajara (Mexic), Kino Babylon Mitte (Berlin), and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Santiago de Chile).

The cycle began in Berlin on January 18 with the screening of Mamífera, followed by a discussion and a live broadcast of the Gaudí Awards gala. In Mexico, the cycle also kicked off with screenings of Mamífera in Guadalajara on January 30 and Mexico City on January 31.

The promotion of Catalan cinema abroad is a priority for the Institut Ramon Llull, which supports the International Gaudí Cycle in coordination with the Catalan Film Academy.
