From 16 to 18 March, La Perla 29 will organise the 2025 Prelude Edition of the Shakespeare Festival Barcelona, an event designed to establish the foundation of the festival community, explore formats, and create connections between artists, programmers, and audiences. This edition marks the starting point of the future festival, planned for the 2026-2027 season. Within this framework, Llull will host a working session with representatives from the various Shakespeare Festivals in Europe, grouped under the ESFN.
During these three days, 14 international programmers, many of them directors of Shakespeare festivals from across Europe, will meet with Catalan artists and cultural coordinators. Besides performances, the programme of the Prelude Edition includes strategic working sessions and debates focused on collaboratively building the festival.
The programme also includes both formal and informal meeting spaces to encourage cooperation and dialogue between local creators and international programmers.
Among these, a session is scheduled at the Institut Ramon Llull on Monday, 17 March, attended by:
- Joanna Śnieżko Misterek – The Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival.
- Vlad Drăgulescu – Festivalul Internațional Shakespeare Kraiova.
- Philip Parr – York International Shakespeare Festival.
- John Blondell – The Verona Shakespeare Festival.
- Blagoj Micevski – Bitola Shakespeare Festival.
- Iryna Chuzhynova – Ukrainian Shakespeare Festival.
- Lisa Wolpe – Verona International Shakespeare Fringe Festival.
- Nikita Milivojevic – Itaka Shakespeare Festival in Serbia.
